Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–5:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Sarasota is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Sarasota is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Florida's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Huge shoutout to Brian’s for their honesty and expertise! My mom’s 2014 Ford Escape had an ABS light on, and the dealer insisted it needed a full ABS control assembly replacementβ€”a repair that would have cost us $2,500.00. Luckily, we went to Brian’s for a second opinion. After a thorough diagnosis, they found absolutely nothing wrong with the system. It’s rare to find a shop with this much integrity. They saved us a small fortune and definitely have our business from here on out!

I had this contact in my phone because other knowledgeable people had recommended their service. My original Subaru battery (7 yrs old) went dead. Called AAA which was great but didn't have the battery I needed. Called Brian's at 4:30 pm. Talked to Steve and agreed to take the car in after it was jumped. Had to call Steve again to let him know I was on my way because it was near 5:30 closing. He was kind and waited. At every turn Steve communicated clearly and helped me with the process. The next morning at 8:30 I got a text that the car was ready! Really good service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I just moved to Florida and needed a front-end alignment for my Fiat 500L. I am a former auto service writer and engine parts manufacturer's rep, so I know my way around a shop a little better than the average bear. This business checked out pretty good online, but I was not prepared for what I saw when I pulled up for my appointment. Parked in front was an immaculate '67 SS396 Chevelle. Two more hoists inside the shop area sported '60s muscle cars. Guys who own cars like this a fussy about who works on them. A Mazda RX-8 was sitting outside, waiting for a new (rotary!) engine. Other customer vehicles were mostly light/medium duty pickups or luxury cars. The work area was the almost-tidy look you get in a well-run, busy shop. This looked very good, indeed. The service writers were first-class. They deftly handled phone calls while talking me. They were polite, cheerful, and professional. I never felt upsell pressure while going over the car. They didn't flinch at working on my Fiat (they can be persnickity). Of course, the alignment was done right and the price, not cheap, was reasonable. They will undoubtedly get more business from me.

For months, many suggestive issues, not confirming if a/c engine, or other issues from noise. Paid for parts, not needed. Sorry now I did not know about Brian's Auto Repair before today. Updated today 5.20.2026 Returned for returned again for discussed service. Excellent service Steve and Nancy. Car picked up earlier then panned. Runs great. Best service on my car in years. Nancy at front desk is awesome. So helpful in reviewing service recommendations to help car run great. They all are great! Excellent service, welcoming experience. Brian's valued time given to me quick review on issue was reassuring. Immediately, knew when hearing rattling, with so many areas it could come from in the car, he knew what issue was, problem area. Set appt. Jason was amazing. Knowedgable. Agreed, after hearing noise what issue was immediately Confirming Brian's diagnosis. As well, Nancy in the office is amazing, great. Extremely knowledgeable in all operational and auto service. The time spent with me today, with explanation, guidance service for future outlined per miles, was so reassuring this is the first stop for anyone wanting auto service on their car.

Consumers beware!!!!! Avoid this shop like the plague!!!!!! GO ELSEWHERE!!!! Owner keeps changing his reply so - These guys continue to prove my point. Go elsewhere. Egotistical owner and service consultant. They got caught lying and trying to rip people off so instead of doing the right thing, continue to attempt to discredit and bash people. You guys can keep lying, it won't change the truth. Maybe more customers that got screwed over by Brian and paul will start to come forward. Only local shops said go to Skips. Brian's is known for this. The 2000's trailblazers, rear upper control arms, were made with cheap and thin metal. They were known to crack and/or rust and/or break. The reason why upgraded control arms made of chromoly tubing got installed. Don't trust these guys at all. Very dishonest. Added after owner replied - point proven. They try to spend more time to discredit the consumer then being honest. They are liars, including the owner Brian. I see why Paul talked so bad about him now. Paul spoke to me for 80%+ of all the conversations because all they did was try to bully her into spending more money. She asked me to review the starting quote and then asked me to ca
